[Experience sharing] Troubleshooting a series of problems encountered when installing Windows systems
Table of contents
I used win7 system on my previous work machine, and there are many problems. For example, when I press the PrintScreen button on the keyboard, it crashes, and when I use mstsc to initiate a desktop remote, many error message boxes will pop up. One of the most unbearable problems is a shutdown. It will crash, you have to press the shutdown button on the chassis to shut down, so I decided to reinstall the system. As a result, I encountered a number of problems after reinstalling the system. Here, I will briefly describe the troubleshooting process of these problems to provide you with a reference and reference.
1. Reinstall Win7 system
Considering that the win10 system will take up more disk space, the win10 system regrets that it takes up more CPU and memory resources, and my work machine is relatively old and the configuration is relatively low, so I decided to continue to install the win7 system. I have my own win7 system CD, which can be used directly.
1.1 Before installing win7, download the 360 driver master or driver wizard of the network card driver version in advance
Before performing the installation, copy the files that need to be saved on the desktop to another disk. The win7 system does not have its own network card driver. You need to download a driver wizard or 360 driver master with a network card driver in advance. After the system is installed, run such a driver installation detection tool. Install the network card driver first, and then you can access the Internet first, and then install it. other software.
1.2 The problem of unable to download when installing VS2017
1.2.1 Requires .NET Framework 4.6 or above to be installed
There is an installation package that saves VS2010 locally, and you can install it directly. As a result, there was a problem when installing VS2017. When double-clicking the VS2017 installation package, it was prompted to install .NET Framework 4.6 or above. So I went to Baidu to search and entered Microsoft’s .NET Framework download, downloaded the 4.6.2 version, but the installation prompts that the version does not match, it is estimated that the current win7 system is not supported. So I went to search for the .NET Framework 4.6.1 version. Fortunately, this version can be installed.
So re-run the VS2017 installation package and it can be started. The currently downloaded VS2017 installation package is very small. It is an online installation package and needs to be downloaded and installed online, not an offline installation package. The result shows that the download failed:
At present, the installation of VS2017 is mainly installed by using the online installation package. If you want to download the offline installation package, one is that the operation is more troublesome, and the other is that the offline installation package is relatively large, and it is downloaded from the foreign Microsoft website, and the speed must be relatively slow. Someone may provide the offline installation package of VS2017 on the Baidu network disk, but the Baidu network disk has been disabled in the company network. You need to use the Baidu network disk to download on a pure external network machine, and the Baidu network disk non-member account download speed It is very slow, and the offline installation package is very large, and it takes a long time to download, so the waiting time will be longer.
1.2.2 Is there a problem with the DNS domain name resolution server, so that the domain name resolution of the VS2017 installation package downloaded by Microsoft online cannot be resolved?
So I thought of searching the Internet to see if there is a way to solve the problem of VS2017 online installation and download failure. Many people say that there is a problem with the DNS domain name server, and the domain name server needs to be changed to the public domain name server of google, such as 126.96.36.199, 188.8.131.52, 184.108.40.206, and they have tried it, but there is still a problem.
1.2.3 Is it related to the failure of Windows Update to connect to the Windows update server?
In addition, when the system was just installed, the system prompted me to update the patch package, so I started Windows Update to download the patch package, but I couldn’t connect to the server and failed to download the patch package. Could it be that Microsoft mainly promotes the Win10 system and terminates the upgrade service of the win7 system? So the win7 system can’t connect to the upgrade server? After confirming with the network management colleagues later, the network management has blocked the port for Microsoft to download the patch package, and they are not allowed to update the Microsoft patch package. It may be that they are afraid that Microsoft will detect that we are using pirated Windows systems. Listed companies are not allowed to use pirated versions. software.
Then the VS2017 online installation server connection fails, will it have something to do with the failure to connect to Microsoft’s patch server? Go to my colleague’s win10 system and execute the VS2017 online upgrade package. He can connect to the server and install it online. This is a bit strange, is it because the win7 system lacks components when running the VS2017 installation package on the Win7 system, it is necessary to additionally connect to other Microsoft servers, and the ports of other servers are also blocked, resulting in VS2017 The VS2017 is always stuck on the server. status, causing VS2017 to fail to download.
Some people say that it is because the patch package is missing in the win7 system, and it is downloaded from the Microsoft official website manually. After installing the patch package, it may be fine. Tried to install, but still have problems after installation.
2. Install Win10 system
The problem that VS2017 cannot be installed is fatal, so I have to install the win10 system.
2.1 Set the USB Device as the first in the boot sequence, or can’t I sense the Win10 installation package in the U disk?
Take the U disk with win10 system from my colleague, then restart the computer, go to the BIOS and set the USB Device as the first in the boot sequence:
Then the computer enters the black page with the flashing mark, and keeps getting stuck on this page. Could it be that there is a problem with the settings in the BIOS, and the system installation package in the USB Device device has not been detected?
So I went to Baidu Yitong again. The BIOS configuration items mentioned on the Internet did not exist on my machine at all. It should be that my machine is a computer from ten years ago. It is too old, and the BIOS version is still more than ten years ago. After trying to enter the win7 system, open the U disk directly, and directly run the setup installation package of the win10 system in the U disk, but after double-clicking, it prompts that the program cannot be run. The current system is 32-bit and cannot run the 64-bit win10 system. setup.exe program.
2.2 Restart after the file copy is completed, at this time, immediately pull out the U disk
It’s too pitiful, so restart the computer, wait for a while on the black page of the flashing mark, and see if it can recognize the win10 installation package in the U disk and enter the installation page of the win10 system. As a result, I waited for a few minutes to enter the black page of the flash mark, and actually entered the installation page of win10. Just follow the wizard. It will first copy the installation files of the win10 system to the hard disk, then restart the system, and use the files on the hard disk to install the win10 system.
You need to pay attention to this place. When you restart the computer after copying the files, you need to quickly pull out the hard disk, otherwise you will re-enter the win10 installation process, which will enter an infinite loop. Currently, the priority is to boot from the USB Device device, so it will re-enter the win10 installation process.
Some people may ask, if the current Win10 system is still in the installation process, if the U disk is directly unplugged, will the installation of the system be terminated? The answer is no, because the files required for the system installation have been copied to the hard disk at the beginning, and the subsequent installation can directly read the files from the hard disk, and the files in the U disk are no longer needed.
2.3 Choose to install Win10 Professional Edition to complete the system installation
At the beginning of the installation, there will be several versions to choose from, such as home version, education version, professional version, etc., we just choose the professional version. Then there will be a prompt to enter the activation code in the middle of the installation, you can not activate it temporarily, and then use the tool to activate after the system is installed. Many activation codes received online do not work, and even if one is found, there may be a limited period of time.
At the end of the wizard, some prompt text will be displayed, indicating that the installation is about to be completed, but it will take some time, about a few minutes, to enter the desktop. The whole installation process of win10 system is relatively slow, it takes about 40 minutes.
3. Several configurations of Windows system
3.1 Update the graphics card driver to solve the problem that the desktop resolution is too small
After entering the desktop, the default resolution of the desktop is 1024×768, which is too small, so I went to the settings page to re-select a larger resolution. As a result, there are only three options in the selection list, and the other two options are even worse. In the past when using the win7 system, there were several types of desktop resolutions, but now there are only 3 types? Could it be that the win10 system detects that the configuration of my machine is relatively poor and only provides these three resolutions? This is too annoying, the desktop is not clear, and the eyes are uncomfortable!
So I went to Baidu again and searched with the keyword that the resolution became less after upgrading to win10. Some people say that the driver that comes with the system is relatively weak. You can use the driver wizard to upgrade the graphics card driver. After the upgrade, there will be multiple resolutions in the list. options. The graphics card driver that comes with win10 may be relatively simple, it is best to update the graphics card driver after installation.
The win10 system finally comes with a network card driver, and finally there is no need to install the driver wizard or 360 driver master with the network card driver version.
3.2 Which one is better to use, driver wizard or 360 driver?
Which one is better to use, Driver Wizard or 360 Driver Master? The driver wizard is now commercialized, and the download speed is only tens of kb/s when you don’t buy a membership, which is deliberately limited. 360 Driver Master has no such limit. The driver wizard has many functions when operating the driver. It can uninstall the existing driver or reinstall the driver. If the 360 driver master detects that the latest driver has been used, it cannot perform these operations. Of course, we can go to the device manager of the system to manually uninstall the driver of the target device. Right-click “Computer (My Computer)”, click “Properties” in the pop-up right-click menu, and there is a “Device Manager” button on the right side of the main properties page:
Just click to open:
3.3 Enable Administrator super administrator account
During the installation process, the user will be asked to enter a user name. After logging in, he does not want to use this user name, but wants to use the Administrator super administrator account, which is disabled by default. You can find the Administrator account under Computer -> Right-click -> Manage -> Computer Management -> System Tools -> Local Users and Groups -> Users:
Cancel the disable.
Then log out of the current user and switch to the Administrator super administrator user. As a result, there is a new problem. Just about to enter the Administrator’s desktop, the entire screen turns black, and only the mouse can be seen. It is still the same after restarting the system. It is estimated that it is caused by a problem with the graphics card driver installed by the 360 driver when a non-super administrator account is logged in. There is no way but to reinstall the system again. In order to prevent this problem from happening again, do not install the graphics card driver as soon as it comes up, and then install it after switching to the Administrator user.
After logging in to the Administrator user, go to the user account management module of the control panel to delete the user added during the installation of the system. I only want to use the Administrator account.
4. Some configuration problems of application software
4.1 Which is better, Microsoft Edge browser, Chrome browser or 360 browser?
I also encountered some problems when downloading files (such as .NET Framework) from Microsoft’s official website. In the win7 system, the built-in IE browser is IE8, and many Microsoft download pages cannot be opened. Using the chrome browser to open the download page to download the file also failed, prompting that the file download page has security risks, and the page has automatic jumps. Later, I downloaded the 360 browser. The kernel used by the 360 browser is also chrome. The 360 browser does not have the problem of chrome when opening the file download page, and the file can be downloaded.
The browser that comes with the win10 system is the Microsoft Edge browser that uses the chrome kernel, but I am more accustomed to using the chrome browser that does not consume resources. I used to use a notebook that I bought more than ten years ago. Because the machine is relatively old, many applications have obvious freezes and cannot be used. Only the chrome browser can be used carefully, so I feel that the chrome browser is consuming resources. There is a big difference.
4.2 Install IE plug-in for Microsoft Edge browser
Some of the company’s office systems only support the IE browser. Do you need to install an IE browser? Microsoft’s Edge browser has taken this scenario into consideration. You can install an IE plug-in in the browser’s extension page and enter the “IE Tab” keyword to search for it. The specific operation screenshots are as follows:
After the plugin is installed, an IE button will be added to the right side of the toolbar of the Edge browser. On the page that needs to be accessed by IE, click this button, and the web page will be reopened in the way of IE kernel, so that these web pages can be accessed normally.
When you click the IE button for the first time, you will be prompted to download a program, just download and install. Some might say that I can install a 360 browser and use a 360 browser when I need to access web pages that only support IE, and that’s fine. Using the 360 browser can also solve the problem of failing to download files from Microsoft’s official website
4.3 The HOSTS file needs to be overwritten to use the mailbox normally
The company mailbox has set the server address (192.168.XXX.XXX) during the installation process, and the server address can also be pinged, but after installing the email client, it still prompts that it cannot connect to the server. Later, I found the network management colleagues, they said that the HOSTS file with the added content should be copied to the system path C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc, so that the mailbox can be used normally. Because the company has branches in different cities, the addresses accessed by different companies are different, but the same domain name is used. The email client needs to access the domain name internally. Domain names in different regions map to different IP addresses.
It is through the HOSTS file to set the corresponding relationship between the domain name and the IP address. If the HOSTS file is not overwritten, there will be a problem with the domain name resolution in the mail client, and there will be a problem of not being able to connect to the server.
5. Solve the problem that .NET Framework 3.5 cannot be installed
During the running process of the newly installed system, the prompt that .NET Framework 3.5 needs to be installed will often pop up, as shown below:
Prompt that some programs on the computer need to use. NET Framework3.5. Click install, it will call Windows Update to go to Microsoft’s server to download. NET Framework3.5, but it can’t connect to the server.
5.1 Microsoft’s Update upgrade server is blocked and cannot be installed through Windows Update. NET Framework3.5
Later, after confirming with the network administrator, they disabled the port of the Microsoft Update server, so there was a situation that the server could not be connected all the time. You can also choose to skip the installation of .NET Framework 3.5, and there is no problem that the program cannot run. It is also unclear which programs need to use. NET Framework3.5.
5.2 Cannot click setup.exe in the .NET Framework3.5 installation package to install manually
So I went to Microsoft to download the .NET Framework 3.5 installation package and wanted to try to install it manually, but when I ran the installation package, it was prompted that .NET Framework 3.5 cannot be installed manually and must be installed through Windows Update. However, Microsoft’s Update server has been disabled. I tried to ask the network administrator to temporarily cancel the disablement for me. The network administrator disagreed, saying that it was a company regulation, so it could not be installed through the system’s Windows Update.
You can download the NetFx3.cab package online, then put NetFx3.cab in the C:\Windows folder, then run cmd.exe as an administrator, and then run the following commands:
dism /online /Enable-Feature /FeatureName:NetFx3 /Source:"%windir%" / LimitAccess
But it failed after several attempts, suggesting that the version of .NET Framework 3.5 does not match the version of the current system.
5.3 Install .NET Framework 3.5 using the system disk in the U disk
Another method is to download the corresponding version of the operating system image, and then use the following command:
Dism /online /enable-feature /featurename:NetFx3 /All /Source:H:\sources\sxs /LimitAccess
DISM stands for Deployment Imaging and Management, which is Deployment Image Servicing and Management for installing, uninstalling, configuring and updating features and packages in offline Windows(R) images and offline Windows Preinstallation Environment (Windows PE) images. Maybe most fastboot users won’t use it, but there are some features you will love.
Downloading the image is too slow. First, Baidu network disk is disabled on the company network. Second, the download speed of non-member network disk accounts is very slow. It only takes a few dozen KB to more than 100 KB.
Suddenly I remembered, doesn’t the U disk we use to install the system have a system image? Go to the relevant directory and you can see:
The versions are definitely the same.
After executing the command, you can see the installation progress, as shown below:
After the installation reaches 100%, the installation is complete:
After the installation is complete, you can see that the components have been installed in the Windows function window:
